Waryam Singh, known as Warian S. Gravell, son of Lal Singh, Jat,
Village Rania, P. S. Nihalsinghwala, District Ferozepore. His original
name is said to have been Mukand Singh. His earlier history is not
known, but it is believed that he went to China in 1914 or 1915 and
thence to the U. S. A. He claims to be a University graduate, which
appears to be doubtful. When in Detroit he learned to fly and was
selected by Teja Singh Sutantar (T-S) to take charge of the Ghadr Party's
aviation school in San Francisco in 1930. He made over to the Ghadr
Party the sum of $800 which had been collected and presented to him
after a parachute jump. After giving instruction in flying two various
members of the Ghadr Party. He had one or two accidents with the
airplane which ultimately crashed, and his services were dispensed with
by the Ghadr Party. He took out United States naturalization first papers
in Michigan on the 13th of September 1929.
