Thakur Singh, son of Sher Singh of Ikolaha, P. S. Khanna, District Ludhiana. Was employed on the Canton-Kowloon Railway as a Sanitary Inspector. Returned to India in November 1914. Was an associate of Mewa Singh (M-31). On arrival in India, he was restricted to his village. Went back to Hong Kong in May 1915. In November 1915 he wrote a letter from Canton to Bhagwan Singh Granthi of village Viring, District Amritsar (formerly a prominent leader of the Ghadr Party) at San Francisco announcing his plan for fomenting a simultaneous outbreak in the Ludhiana and Ferozepore districts and introducing rank communism. In consequence of this he was arrested as Hong Kong and deported to India. Arrived at Calcutta by the s. s. "Lai Sang" in October 1915 and was interned. At the end of 1918 was offered the alternative of restriction to his village and on refusal were reinterned in the Montgomery jail from where he was released in December 1919. Joined the Congress movement and subsequently became a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee. Has prosecuted under Sections 14-A/158-A, Indian Penal Code, for delivering a seditious speech in February 1922 and sentenced to 3 years’ rigorous imprisonment. Was also sentenced to one year's imprisonment under Section 110 (f), Criminal Procedure Code. Was awarded a Saropa by the S. G. P. C. at the Akai Takht, Amritsar, on 2nd January 1925 on the occasion ofhis release. Offered his property as a compensation to his brethem who identified themselves in the Nabha agitation. Elected Vice-President and a member of the Working Committee ofthe Akali Dal in November 1925. Removed to Kotah Bundi State in 1925. Said to have misappropriated- some money belonging to some men of his village. Wrote a seditious letter to the "Kirti" in April 1928 eulogising Kartar Singh of Saraba (hanged) and Madan Lal Dhingra (hanged). Declared Ghandhi's policy for the emancipation ofthe country as useless, and approved ofthe lines followed by Russia. Is reported to be living in Pali Marwar, Rajputana State, where he has secured some land. Is known as a doctor.
