Sudh Singh

Sudh Singh, Bhai, son of Chanda Singh, Gill, of Chuhar Chak, P. S. Mehna, District Ferozepore. He served for 3 or 4 years in the 15th Sikhs and went to China in 1909 and from there to America. He was secretary of the Indian Committee in Vancouver and visited Daljit Singh (D-l 1) of the "Komagata Maru". He was mentioned in Tara Singh's letter to Daljit Singh as having been sent by the Committee to give Daljit Singh all the news. He subscribed largely to fight the deportation of Bhagwan Singh of village Viring, district Amritsar (formerly a prominent leader of the Ghadr Party). On his return to India from Vancouver by the "Laj Sang" in September 1914, he was actively engaged in the revolution and was said to have been in the Ferozepore raid. He was sent for trial in the Supplementary Conspiracy Case but discharged. In 1916 his house was searched and some papers and subscription lists of the Vancouver Gurdwara were found which led to his arrest, but he was subsequently released. He was kept under surveillance in 1917. He recruited Akalis for the Jaito Morcha and was a Jathedar of the Akali Jatha at Chuhar Chak in 1925. He was the Manager of the defunct "Asli Quami Dard" of Amritsar in 1929 and is a member of the Canadian American Malwa Sudhar Society and has also been its president. He is an intimate friend of Rur Singh (R-41), Kanshi Ram (K-l 1) and Ganga Ram of village Chuhar Chak, district Ferozepore (a passenger on board the "Mishima Maru", who returned to India with Nidhan Singh of Choga's Ghadr Party) and lives on cultivation. He has been living at his village for the last six months on account of his diseased legs.
