Sohan Singh Yachak

Sohan Singh ’Yachak', alias Bujha Singh, son of Vir Bhan, Jat, of Village Dhaliwal, P. S. Nakodar, District Jullundur. He emigrated to America about 1909-10 and has not since visited his home. He came to notice in July 1927 when he sent an objectionable poem for publication to the Manager of the 'Kirti', Amritsar. In February 1928 he was reported to be a member of the Ghadr Party and to be contributing $100 annually to the party. His address at that time was P. O. Box 94, Loomis, California. In 1929 he used to contribute poems to the "Hindustan Ghadr". In February of the following year he was said to have been elected to the Stockton Committee of the Ghadr Party. Early in 1931 he was reported to have been in the Ghadr Ashram and to have been taking flying lessons at the Alameda Airport. He was one of the speakers at a meeting of the Ghadr Party at Marysville on 20th February 1931. On the 23rd of April 1932 he was granted a passport to India by the British Consul-General at San Francisco, and on 17th May he applied for an endorsement on his passport to enable him to visit the U. S. A., France, Germany and Italy, en route to India. He was to have sailed for Hamburg on 17th May 1932. He is suspected to be identical with a man of his name who was reported to have been sent for training to Moscow by the Ghadr Party in July 1932. He is believed to have been accompanied as far as Berlin at all event's by another Ghadr Party enthusiast Chanan Singh, (C-7) of Dhakowal, district Hoshiarpur.
