Shamsher Singh, son of the late Bhai Bakhshish Singh, Jat, Village
Sursingh, P. S. Bhikhiwind. District Lahore. Bom in California. As a boy
he was one of the seven companions of Mahendra Pratap on the latter's
anti-British tour from San Francisco to the Far East in 1925, and met
Rash Behari Bose (R-32) in Japan in October 1926. In 1927 he was
despatched to Moscow via Vladivostok for training at the Eastern
University under the Russian name of Volkoff; but the Comintern were
dissatisfied with his educational qualifications and sent him back to
California (February 1929). Is reported to be still in America. Has five
brothers named Kapur Singh, Sham Singh, Hamam Singh, Teja Singh and
Hari Singh, who are all in America. Owns some land in village Sursingh.
