Sant Ram, Mandal, son of Amin Chand, Mandal, originally of Sangowal,
P. S. Sadr, District Ludhiana, and latterly of Ahmadgarh, Malerkotla
State. Went to America in 1913 to take up a course in engineering. Was
reported to be a member of the Hindustan Association of America during
1914-15. Was an Associate of Jagat Ram (J-2) and was disaffected. Took
his B. A. degree in Chemistry in 1921 and M. A. degree in Mathematics
in the following year, from the University of California. Was reported in
1925 to have become a bitter critic of the Government and to have
addressed vernacular organizations, particularly Women's Clubs, on the
then existing situation in India. Married a German girl, but divorced her
after some time. Returned to India by the s. s. "Mongolia" in 1929. Was
said to have written a letter in December 1929 to Pandit Jawahar Lal
Nehru, requesting the latter to allow him to act as a delegate to the Indian
National Congress at Lahore, representing California, U. S. A. Visited
Quetta in February 1930 and thence proceeded to Karachi on the 24th
February with the intention of proceeding to Europe by land through
Persia and Turkey. Has not been heard of since then.
