Sajjan Singh

Sajjan Singh, alias Surjan Singh, son of Khazan Singh, of Bela, P. S. Bhadaur, Patiala State. Joined the 20th Deccan Horse in 1898, but left it in 1906 and went to the U. S. A. Returned to India by the s. s. "Tosha Maru". Was the leader of a Ghadr Party from Canada which met the S.S. "Korea" party at Hong Kong. Was chosen as an emissary to see the German Consul at Canton but did not actually see him. Was interned on 1st November 1914 and his conduct in jail was bad. Was reported to be the leader of the "Tosha Maru" internees. Released in July 1918 and restricted to his village. Seemed to have joined the Sikh Parwar Sahaik Committee (Committee for the relief of the families of Sikh political prisoners) in August 1924. He acted for a week or so as an editor of the "Chakrawarti" started by the "Kirpan Bahadur". Was Editor of the "Kirpan Bahadur" in October 1925. Takes a keen interest in Akali meetings, and in politics generally. Associates with Baba Wasakha Singh (W-6), Baba Sohan Singh (S-55), and Santa Singh of Gandiwind (S-18). Owns landed property at his village.
