Ramchand, son of Uttam, Jat, Village Gumtala, P. S. Nur Mahal, District
Jullundur. Went to the United States of America about 1920. He
received his education at Sutter High School, Yuba City, California,
United States of America. He came to notice in August 1923 when he was
reported to be working in the Ghadr Ashram, and to have spoken at a
meeting of the Ghadr Party held at Marysville in the same month in
denunciation of the policies of Mr. Gandhi and extolling those of the
Ghadr Party. From a letter written by Joga Singh (J-31), Secretary of the
Party, to Madan Singh alias Harmindar Singh (M-2) in January 1929 it
appears that Ramchand was in Joga Singh's confidence. He is known to
have returned to California from Detroit by May 1930. He is presumably
identical with Ram Chand Pamil who came to notice in 1929, as an active
member of the United India League of Detroit. The latter was described
as being aged 30, as having formerly studied medicine, and afterwards
working in Ford Motor Works. Has not returned home so far. Owns landed
property at his village.
Description : Sallow complexion; age about 34 years.
