Ram Singh, son of Sahib Singh, Tailor, Village Halluwal, P. S. Mahilpur,
District Hoshiarpur. He was originally thought to belong to Jullundur.
He served on the Committee of the Stockton Sikh Temple in 1923. In
1928 he was reported to be a member of the Ghadr Party. In 1929
subscribed to the Ghadr Party on behalf of the Kirti. Was a speaker at a
meeting of the Ghadr Party held at Forester's Hall in Maysville on 11th
August 1929, at which he advocated violence but emphasized that
Bolshevism was the Ghadr Party's goal. He has more than once come
under suspicion of bootlegging, and about the end of 1931 was suspected
of complicity in some of the murders which took place in California. He
was reported moreover to be a distributing agent for the "Kirti" and early
in 1932, to have been an active Ghadrite. He used to operate the Punjab
Trading Co., a general store in Marysville, which was bought out by the
new company operated by the Ghadr Party. Ram Singh continued to work
in the store and was partnered for a while in 1930 by Madan Singh alias
Mahinder Singh Sodhi (M-2). He still operates a grocery store in
Marysville and is persona grata with the Ghadr Party leaders.
