Partap Singh, son of Faujdar Singh, Jat, of Pandori, P. S. Dakha, District
Ludhiana. A near relation of Mit Singh of Pandori (M-35). Went to
America in 1910 and landed at San Francisco. Worked as a watchman.
Was a friend of Tara Singh (since dead) of Abdal. Gujranwala, who
stayed with him in Yuba City, California. In May 1915 wrote a
revolutionary letter to Mit Singh of Pandori, and continued to correspond
with him. Returned to India from Vancouver on 3rd October 1922. An
undated letter written by him to Kartar Singh of Latala (K-38) came to notice in 1924 which showed that some money had been sent from abroad
to Kartar Singh for some purpose which was not acknowledged by him.
Visited Amritsar for interviewing Mit Singh of Pandori who was in jail in
1924 and also other Akali leaders at Amritsar. Was convicted under
Section 326 I. P. C. and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment on 14th
January 1928. Was a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak
Committee. Attempted to revisit America but passport facilities were not
granted. Is suspected to be a member of some revolutionary party and has
been taking part in the Akali agitation. Owns landed property and a
residential house. His associates include Kartar Singh of Latala (K-38),
Mit Singh of Pandori (M-35), and Sucha Singh of Isewal (formerly
connected with the Ghadr Party). In 1931 he was refused a passport for
Kenya. About a year ago, however, he seems to have left India unnoticed
and to have made his way to Hong Kong where the local Canadian
Immigration Officer, not believing his statements, refused to grant him
the necessary facilities to enter Canada via the Pacific. From Hong Kong
he apparently travelled to the U. K. and thence to Halifax, Nova Scotia,
but was refused to land at Halifax, on 1st December 1933. His present
whereabouts are not known.
