N-34. Natha Singh, son of Mangal Singh, Badmash, of Dhun, P. S. Khalra,
District Lahore. Was one of those assembled at Sirhali, on the day
following the Jhar Sahib meeting, to atttack the Police Station. Was
placed on Rs. 20,000 security under Section 110 C. P. C. A minor
revolutionary. Was arrested and sent for trial in the Supplementary Case
and sentenced to transportation for life. The sentence was afterwards
reduced to 10 years' R. I. Escaped from the Hazari Bagh jail, was
recaptured and sentenced to 2 years' R. I. more. He was finally released
conditionally from the Penitentiary Jail, Madras, in 1923, Enquiries made
in 1929 showed that he was a bad character and mixed with bad
characters but refrained from taking part in politics. He is now reported to
have been taking an active part in politics and was convicted and
sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment under Ordinance VI of 1930 on 1st
July 1930. He was again convicted and sentenced to 2 years' R. I. under
Section 420 I. P. C. on 23rd December 1930. Has rece6ntly been released
from jail and is reported to be taking part both in political and criminal
activities. Is a notorious bad character and addicted to crime. Associates
with Arjan Singh of Mari Kamboke, Sajjan Singh of Makhi Khurd,
Hamam Singh of Wan and Ganda Singh of Sursingh, etc. Owns 100
bighas ofland.
Description : Age about 50 years; height 5'-8"; a boil mark about 2
inches on right thigh; one front tooth of upper jaw broken; fair
complexion.
