Narain Singh, son of Nand (Nain) Singh of Gandiwind, P. S. Sirhali,
District Amritsar. He is reported to have left his home for China about
1914 and to have spent nine years in Hankow. He served as a watchman
with different firms, and in 1927 and 1928 was one of the leading
members of the Hankow Ghadr Party. About the beginning of 1927 he
was reported to have been appointed President of the Eastern Oppressed
Peoples’ Association. He took part in the reception to M. N. Roy, the
notorious Indian Communist, on the occasion of the latter's visit to the
Sikh Gurdwara in Hankow in April 1927. He was reported to have been
one of the leaders of the Hankow group of local seditionists formed in
September 1927 in opposition to Pritam Singh ofDhand Kasel (P-29). He
was arrested at Hankow in 1929 by the Chinese authorities for smuggling
arms. Is reported to be still at Shanghai.
