Nanak Chand, alias N. C. Sud, son of Girdhari Lal, Village Naushera
Punuan, P. S. Tam Tam, District Amritsar. He was employed in the
Public Works Department of the Alwar State and later on the E. B.
Railway. Emigrated to Philippines in 1912 and thence to America in
1913. After working for a time in Oregon he went to California, he spoke
at a Ghadr meeting in Fresno in January 1915 and his name was placed
on the "Ghadr" mailing list. Meanwhile he opened an ice-cream soda
fountain at 830 Clic Avenue, San Francisco, in which he was joined by
Godha Ram Channan (G-21) ofthe "Ghadr" staff. His friendship with the
latter involved him in the enquiries made in connection with the Indo-
German conspiracy. He and Godha Ram Channan attended the German
Relief Bazar in May 1916 dressed as Indian princes. He was also present
at the third anniversary ofthe opening ofthe Ghadr Press held on the 1st
November 1916. Was a strong supporter of the late Ram Chandra
Peshawari and the Ghadr Party, during the life time of Ram Chandra. He
did not come to notice again till the beginning of 1921 when he was
reported to have been operating a candy store at 830 Point Lobos Avenue
and to have been admitted to the United States citizenship. In 1923 he
was reported to be one of the founders of "The Hindu Satyatha Fund",
Sacramento, a non-political society formed for the purpose of assisting
Mrs. Ram Chandra and destitute Indians. He was then living at
Marysville. He was reported to be intending to leave for India on 2nd
February 1924 but apparently he changed his mind. He was said to have
been elected to the Committee of the Ghadr Party at Al Fresno on 26th
February 1930. Is reported to have come back from abroad and to be
living at present in Bungalow No. 513, New Delhi.
