Mula Singh, alias Punjab Singh, son of Jawala Singh, of Mirankot, P. S.
Sadr, District Amritsar. An ex-Sepoy of the 28th Punjabis and the Malay
States Guides. In 1907 he was enrolled as a Constable in the Shanghai
Police but was dismissed in 1910 for being a ringleader in the
disturbances among the Majha and Malwa sections in the Police. He then
went to America, from where he sent seditious literature to Policemen at
Shanghai and Hong Kong. Returned to India by the S.S. "Atsuta Maru".
While in Shanghai he obtained 6 pistols from Karam Chand Kohli of
Katra Ramgarhian, Amritsar, who was formerly connected with the Ghadr
Party. He had been appointed leader of the revolutionaries before leaving
America. Was in general command at the headquarters in Amritsar until
his arrest in February 1914. He was made an approver in the Lahore
Conspiracy Case of 1914-15 and was restricted. In 1918 he was warned
for mixing with bad characters. The restrictions were, however, removed
later on. He is working as a farmer at the village and is reported to be
quiet.
Description : Age about 47 years; wheat complexion; a wound mark
about 3/4" in length on the forehead; height 5-9"; a boil mark about
6" above the ankle on the outer side of the right leg.
