Milkha Singh, alias Thakur Singh, son of Hamam Singh, Jat, of
Barapind, P. S. Phillaur, District Jullundur. Emigrated to Vancouver in
1908 and thence went to California. A satellite of the late Ram Chandra
Peshawari (then leader of the Ghadr Party) who was said to have been
sent back to India for Ghadr purposes. Returned to India via Shanghai
and Colombo and was arrested and interned. Was considered suspicious,
but was eventually released on account of ill-health. Restricted to his
village and put on Rs. 10.000 security under Section 108, C. P. C. Took
part in the Akali and Congress agitations of 1929-30, in connection with
which he was convicted and sentenced to 6 months' rigorous
imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 150. Was also convicted under Section
366 I. P. C. Is a bad character and a staunch Akali. Owns landed property.

eyes and large nose.
