Mewa Singh, son of Maghar Singh, Gill, of Majitha, P. S. Majitha,
District Amritsar. Was employed as the Chief Officer of the French
Consular Police at Canton. Used to be a timekeeper on the Kowloon-
Canton Railway. Was Granthi at Hong Kong and got into trouble because
of his seditious tendencies. At the end of 1914 he wrote to Harchand
Singh of Lyallpur commending to him one Thakur Singh of Ikolaha (T-
20) who was sailing for India. Thakur Singh proved later to be violent
seditionist. Mewa Singh was reported to have been a sedition-monger in
Canton and a dangerous man. Used a receive copies of the "Ghadr"
regularly from Jagat Ram of Hariana (J-2). Entertained at Canton the
"Tosha Maru" emissaries who went to see the German Consul. Arrived at
Calcutta by the s. s. "Nam Sang" on the 7th of September 1915, having been deported from Hong Kong and was arrested and interned. Was reported to
be a relation of Sardar Sundar Singh Majitha. Was the recipient of a
highly seditious letter from Dost Muhammad Khan (D-31). Is reported to
be employed in Ganji Bar, district Montgomery, on the lands of Sir
Sundar Singh Majitha. Reported to entertain political views and associate
with Congress workers. Owns landed property.
