Mela Ram, Village Maghowal, District Hoshiarpur. He went to New
Zealand in 1917 and has been employed at various places chiefly as a
farm-laborer, hotel porter and as a conjurer. He came to notice in 1928
when he sent an objectionable poem to the 'Desh Sewak' of Jullundur for
publication. In January 1930 a packet containing Ghadr literature
addressed to the editor of this paper was intercepted. The inner cover
showed that the literature was originally addressed to Mela Ram, who
apparently sent it to India. Evidently, he is being used as a channel for the
dissemination of Ghadr literature.
Description : Age 40 years; is poorly educated, and does not speak
English well.
