Lal Singh, son of Bir Singh, Jat, of Thikriwala, P. S. Kahnowan, District
Gurdaspur. He returned from Shanghai in October 1914. He was a
member of Havildar Sher Singh’s dacoity gang and was restricted to his
village. His father who was also a returned emigrant was arrested for
complicity in a dacoity early in 1915 and was found to be in possession of
an automatic pistol. In March 1918 Lal Singh was ordered to live in Khadumpur. In 1917 he formed a committee which remained in existence
till 1930, for the settlement of all matters privately without having
recourse to public authorities, he has been taking part in organising the
Akalis. He is a dangerous character and requires careful watching. He
belongs to a family which is notorious for holding political views. His
associates are Bir Singh (B-62), his father, and Mula Singh, his uncle.
