Khazan Singh

Khazan Singh, son ofJotu Singh, Jat, of Birpind, P. S. Nakodar, District Jullundur. He left India in 1911 in search of work with 600 other Sikhs and went to Panama, whence after six months he went to Cuba Island. He remained there for 18 months and worked in the Navy station of the U. S. A. as a labourer. Subsequently he went to Florida, whence to California where he worked for three years at Chico, a small town near California. About 1917 he was residing in Walnut Grove, California. While in California he was reported to be a member ofthe Ghadr Party, and intimate with Mehar Chand and Umrao Singh Bains, of Mahilpur (U- 10). He ran a grocer's shop in Texas State till 1929 when he removed to Kansas City where he opened a restaurant. He was sentenced to 2 years' imprisonment for committing theft in inter-State shipment and forgery. He was deported to India for violation ofthe Immigration Laws, and arrived at his home in the beginning of 1932. He is at present reported to be quiet.
