K-47. Kehr Singh, son of Ranga Singh, Village Manke Fategarh, P. S. Dehlon,
District Ludhiana. He was one of the most active members of the
disloyal section of the Malwa Sikhs in Shanghai and was known to have
been in correspondence with Surjan Singh (S-78), Secretary of the
Hindustan Ghadr Party, San Francisco. He was reported to be active in
Shanghai in recruiting Sikhs as members of the Ghadr Party and of the
Eastern Oppressed People's Association, Nanking. He left Shanghai for
India on the 11th January 1929 with Sawan Singh of Phadana (S-28) and
Sham Singh of Manhala and was arrested at his village on 27th
September of the same year in connection with objectionable articles in
the "Kirpan Bahadur" of Amritsar of which he was the editor, and
sentenced to two years' rigorous imprisonment with hard labour and a fine
ofRs. 200. The sentence was, on appeal, reduced to six months' rigorous
imprisonment. Reported in 1932 to be the Editor of the "Nawan Yug"
Lahore. Holds political views. Owns landed property.
