K-l. Kabul Singh, son ofChuhar Singh, of Gharuan, P. S. Bassi, Patiala State.
Studied up to the Matriculation class in Government High School,
Ludhiana. Went to British East Africa in 1899 and served as a sub-
overseer on the Uganda Railway. Worked there for about 3 years and
returned. Left for Singapore in 1903 and worked there in the same
capacity till 1905 when he proceeded to Bangkok and got a similar job
there. Returned home in September 1910. Again went to Siam and
returned to India in 1914 on 2 months' leave. Took over charge at
Bandon, Siam in July 1914 as an overseer. Disaffected and pro-German.
A bomb-making manual sent by Sohan Lal Pathak (hanged) of village
Patti, district Lahore, was deposited with him. Arrived at Madras on 3rd
November 1918 on 5 months leave. Made a statement and was allowed to
go home. Admitted to have regularly received the "Ghadr" paper. Applied
for a passport to return to Siam in March 1919, but was refused as his
return to Siam was considered undesirable. Reported to have left his
village on the 16th July 1919 without obtaining any passport. Was traced
at No. 2 Ahiripooker Road, Calcutta, in November 1919. Returned to his
village about 1932. Left for Africa about April 1933. Did not come to
notice adversely while at his village.
