J-30. Jiwan Singh, son of Rajindar Singh, Jat, of Village Dhurial, P. S.
Adampur, District Jullundur. He is an ex-sepoy and emigrated to
Vancouver in 1905. He and his brother Hakim Singh sent a very
objectionable letter and copies ofthe "Ghadr" to a relative in India during
' the Great War. Was a prominent member of the Ghadr Party in San
Francisco. -He lost an arm in an accident in the Yugantar Asharam Press
but said it was a small thing to give for the 'cause.' During May and June
1921 he received training in aviation at the United States Aircraft School
at Spokane, and secured a certificate as an aviator, proving himself an
exceptionally good flyer. In 1922 he was employed with the Hammond
Lumber Co. in Portland, Oregon, and was reported to be a close adherent
ofthe Ghadr Party. He is believed to have'taken out first U. S. citizenship
papers. He is an uncle of Iqbal Singh Hundal (1-25), and is said to have
been smuggled by the latter into Canada from the U. S. A. in 1927. Since
1930 he has been a member of the small Ghadr Party contingent in
Vancouver, B. C.
