Jawala Singh

J-21. Jawala Singh, son of Nihala Singh, Jat, of Guria, P. S. Phillaur, District Jullundur. He was formerly in the 36th Sikhs and went to America in 1907. In 1912 he visited India and returned to Canada in 1914. He and other Indians were then in correspondence with the Ghaar Ashram from P. O. Box 182, Agassiz, B. C. He posted a letter from the above address on the 9th January 1915 which contained an allusion to a proposed insurrection or rising. In 1917 he was at Rosedale, B. C., and in correspondence with Mit Singh of Pandori (M-35), and was described as a dangerous revolutionary and a Ghadr correspondent. He again returned to India in 1922. Had his passport renewed in 1925, and after an absence of about 4/5 years in Canada, finally returned to his village about 1 ‘/2 years ago. He is at present in his village, and is suspected of entertaining anti-Govemment views.

Description : Wheat complexion; stout build; fat nose; age about 50 years; keeps beard, knows Urdu and Gurmukhi.
