Jawala Singh, son of Kahan Singh, Jat, Village Khan Khanan, P. S. Banga,
District Jullundur. Went to Australia in 1898 and returned in 1904. He
went to the U. S. A. in September 1910 and landed at San Francisco
where he worked as a farmer. In 1929 he was reported to be a regular
quarterly subscriber to the Ghadr Party on behalf of the Kirti fund, and
early in the following year was said to have been elected to the Stockton
Committee of the Ghadr Party. He also held the office of President ofthe
Ghadr Party in 1930, and was a recipient of copies ofthe "Sanjiwal", the
organ of the Bengal Kirti Dal. He sailed from San Francisco in January
1932 and arrived at Calcutta in February. He was reported to have
brought instructions from the Ghadr Party as to the manner in which work
was to be done in India and in April was reported to be receiving money
and literature from abroad, and to be associating with Santa Singh (S-l 8)
in connection with the work of the ’Kirti'. In America he was not
particularly active in the interests ofthe Ghadr Party and the presumption
is that he was largely a figure head. He himself denies having been
President of the Ghadr Party. Applied for a passport to the U. S. A. in
August 1932, but was refused. Is at present in his village where he owns
landed property. Also owns land in California, U. S. A.
