Jawala Singh, Aujla, son of Samunda (Samund Singh), Village Chak
Kalan (also known as Chak Bagarian), P. S. Nakodar, District Jullundur.
He went to California, U. S. A. early in 1923 for prosecuting his studies
and has not visited his home since then. Soon after his arrival he
delivered an address at a meeting in the Sikh Temple at Stockton giving a
resume ofthe then existing conditions in India and the firing by General
Dyer at Amritsar. He was dubbed as a revolutionary. According to his
own statement he studied for three years at Ann Arbor College, Detroit,
before he joined the University ofCalifornia at Barkeley in January 1927.
He attended the University upto 1930-31 and also obtained the degree of
Master of Science from the College ofAgriculture at Davis, California, in
May 1931. He was reported to be a close friend of Teja Singh Sutantar
(T-8), and an active Ghadr propagandist. His address at Berkeley was
1731, Allston Way Berkeley, California, a boarding-house frequented by
