Jaswant Singh, son ofNihal Singh, Village Kairon, District Amritsar. He
went to the U. S. A. in 1921 as a student and joined the Berkeley
University, moving subsequently to Detroit where he appears to have
been employed on mechanical work in the Ford factory. He became a
member of the Ghadr Party and was reported to be a member of the
Detroit branch in 1930. He.seems to be a very zealous worker and was
said to be trying to induce the Ghadr Party as far back as September,
1930, to accept him for instructions in aviation and had also written to
Teja Singh on the subject. He contributed an article to the "Hindustan
Ghadr" for July 1932 in which he appealed to young men to discard non-
violence and organise themselves on Ghadrite principles. He is reported
to have been sent by the Ghadr Party to Moscow for training. He was
granted passport No. 5023 at San Francisco on 25th May 1932 and sailed
from New York in June. He arrived in Moscow in July 1932.
