Jagat Singh, Doctor, son ofMui Singh, ofMelowal, District Sialkot. Was a
compounder in the 34th Sikhs for 5 years and resigning his appointment
in 1905 proceeded to Perlis in the Malay States, where he was appointed
jailor and dresser in the local hospital. Was reported in January 1915 to
have indulged in seditious convocation with a batch of seditionists from
Panang, Mede, and Alorstar and to have associated with Ghadrites ofthe
locality. Others present included Bir Singh of village Fatehabad, district
Amritsar (formerly connected with the Ghadr Party), Hira Singh of
village Kairon, district Amritsar, an ex-seditionist, and Prem Singh
(P-27). He was further stated to have announced at a meeting that he
would seize Perlis and hold it for the Germans. It was first proposed that
he should be expelled from the Straits Settlements but was later placed on
security for 2,000 dollars. He returned to the Punjab in January 1918, and
was restricted to his village. He was eventually allowed to return to Perlis
accompanied by his family in April ofthe same year. Visited his home in
1929 and after building a house worth Rs. 18.000 returned to Purlars.

prosperous business and is fairly well known.
