Indar Singh, son of Ishar Singh, of Village Dusanj Kalan, P. S. Phillaur,
District Jullundur. He passed through Shanghai en route to India from
Canada in the S.S. "Empress of Russia" towards the end of September
1920. Was reported to have visited the Paoshing Road Gurdwara during
the Stay of the ship at Shanghai and to have delivered an anti-British
speech which disclosed his sympathy with the Ghadr movement. In his
speech he expressed the opinion that India would be free and stated that a
sum of $12,000 had been collected in Canada for the family and relations
of Harbant Singh, the murderer of Inspector Budha Singh of the Shanghai
Police. He wanted those who were desirous of joining the Babbar Akalis
to send to their homes. Arrived at Calcutta on 21st October 1929 by the
5.5. "Kut Sang" and left for his home in the Punjab. Was then reported to
be quiet.
