Harnam Singh, son of Udham Singh, of Village Sursingh, P. S.
Bhikiwind, District Lahore. Emigrated to China about 1916 or 1917 and
has been employed there as a watchman. Between 1927-29 he was
employed in one of the cotton mills in Shanghai, and in 1927 was
reported to have attended several seditious meetings, including the one
held at the house of Dasaundha Singh Mann (D-16) at Chapei on 19th
April 1927, at which plans were discussed for a campaign of
assassination of British officers. He was arrested for being concerned in
the plot which led to the murder of Inspector Budha Singh but was
discharged for want of sufficient evidence. He was present at a meeting
on 14th August 1927 when Ishar Singh of Sundun (1-28) read a letter
from Pritam Singh of Dhand Kasel (P-29), then leader of the Hankow
Ghadr Party, and at which resolutions were passed for the reception of the
"Young Revolutionaries" who were expected at that time from Hankow;
for the resumption of the publication of the "Hind Jagawa"; and the
preparation of the Sikh community for a revolution. During the latter half
of 1927 he was in close touch with Charan Singh of Duleta (C-15) and
Pritam Singh of Dhand Kasel, and was reported to be one of the more
active members of the Manjha seditionist group in Shanghai. Owns
