Harnam Singh, Village Daiewal, P. S. Phillaur, District Jullundur.
Harnam Singh appears to have been in Canada for a number of years. In
1919 he was in touch with the Ghadr Party leader in California, Jagat
Singh, of village Kandola, district Jullundur (J-6). In 1921 he was one of
the sponsors of the Hindustani Home Rule League of Canada. He was
present at the annual convention of the Hindustani Y. M. A. of Canada
held at Duncan at the close of June 1929, in which a resolution was
passed expressing satisfaction at Bhagat Singh's (Murderer of a Police
Officer in India) exploits and in which it was provisionally decided to
send a sum of Rs. 7,300 to India to assist in the work of bomb-making.
He also attended a secret meeting held at Vancouver on 28th April 1929
in which the action of Bhagat Singh was praised and it was decided to
send financial support to those who followed his example.
