Hardit Singh, Dr., son of Bhup Singh, of Kala Ghannupur, P. S. Sadr,
District Amritsar. He was formerly a compounder in the 13th Lancers
and in 1917 was a druggist in Amritsar. He was reported to be in touch
with the revolutionary headquarters in the Punjab, and was of assistance
to them in procuring bomb chemicals. He treated Bir Singh alias Vir
Singh, son of Buta Singh of Bahowal, district Hoshiarpur, (Hanged in the
Lahore Supplementary Conspiracy Case of 1914-15) when the latter was
wounded in a dacoity. He was sent up for trial in the Lahore Conspiracy
Case of 1914, but acquitted. In 1928 he was reported to be residing in
Chauk Parag Das, Katra Ram Garhian, Amritsar, where he had been
practicing as a doctor for the past 10 or 12 years. In 1929 it was reported
that he did not fail to attend to the call of a political organization if he was
asked to do so. He was also said to have pictures of certain
revolutionaries hanging in his house. Is still practicing as a Doctor in
Chauk Parag Das, Katra Ram Garhian, Amritsar City, and is reported to
be quiet at present.
Description : Age 55-60 years; height 5'-4"; wheat complexion; stout
build, pock-pitted face; white long thick beard; long pointed nose;
wears khaddar and a black turban.
