Hardit Singh, alias Gopha Singh, son of Sohel Singh, of Chola, P. S.
Sirhali, District Amritsar. Returned to India from Vancouver in 1915 and
was restricted to his village under the ingress into India Ordinance. Was
prosecuted for disobedience of restriction orders and sentenced to one
year's rigorous imprisonment. Restrictions removed on his release from jail. Was granted a passport in November 1922 to proceed to Hankow. In
1923 a report from Shanghai indicated that one Gurdit Singh alias Gopha
Singh of Chola, Amritsar, had arrived there with Harnam Singh (H-48),
and two others to work secretly among the Sikhs. Inquiry elicited that this
individual was Hardit Singh and that he passed under the name of his
elder brother. Gurdit Singh, who was then at his village.
