Gurdit Singh, son of Gurmukh Singh, barber, of Sursing, P. S. Bhikiwind,
District Lahore. A returned emigrant, who came back on the S.S.
"Salamis" in November 1914. He had taken part in a seditious meeting at
Oxnard; California, in July 1914. He was arrested at the revolutionary
headquarters in Lahore in February 1915 and convicted by the Lahore
Tribunal and sentenced to transportation for life. The sentence was
afterwards reduced to 10 years. Enquiries made in 1920 showed that he
was paid Rs. 100 a year from the Sikh Qaidi Parwar Sahaik fund (fund for
the relief of the families of political prisoners). Works as a barber at the
village and is reported to be quiet.
