Gurdial Singh, son of Ganda Singh, Village Jhingar, District Jullundur.
He went to San Francisco in October 1929 and has been studying at the
University of British Columbia, Vancouver. By May 1930 he was
reported to be a very active revolutionary and since then he has on several
occasions preached to large audiences the duty of self-sacrifice in the
cause of freedom of their country, notably at a farewell meeting to Piara
Singh of Langeri (P-25) at Vancouver Temple on 8th June 1930 and to a
meeting of the Hindu Young Men's Association on 1st July 1930. During
the early part of July he toured in Vancouver Island preaching and
collecting funds. He was interested in the paper 'India and Canada' and is
alleged to have raised subscriptions for it. Was present at a meeting held
on 27th July 1930 in the Vancouver Sikh Temple when the formation of
the War Council was discussed. He is believed to be identical with one
Gurdial Singh who contributed an article to the Hindustan Ghadr for July
1931. Towards the middle of 1932 he was reported to be working as a
Ghadr Party representative in British Columbia. He acted as Chairman at
a meeting of the Hindustani Young Men's Association (organization of the
Ghadr Party in B. C.) held at the Sikh Temple in Vancouver in August
1932.
