Gulzara Singh, son of Hardit Singh, Jat, of Village Bundala, P. S.
Nurmahal, District Jullundur. After being in America for about 10/12
years he was reported to have returned to India about the beginning of
1924. In 1927 he was elected a member of the Desh Bhagat Qaidi Parwar
Sahaik Committee (Committee for the relief of the families of political
prisoners). In April 1927 Bhag Singh' Canadian (B-47) tried to smuggle
him via Afghanistan and China to Russia with a forged passport for
military training there, but the attempt does not seem to have
materialized. In December 1927 he applied for a passport to the Fiji
Islands, which was refused on account of his seditious record. He was
reported to have been concerned in all anti-Government activities of the
Doaba extremists and in 1928 was an active worker of the Kirti group. He
was in close touch with the Kabul Sikhs and it was thought possible that
he might smuggle himself to Afghanistan.
