Gujar Singh, son of Sham Singh, of Village Bhakna Kalan, P. S.
Gharinda, District Amritsar. He was stated to have been an active
member of the Ghadr Party at Shanghai where he had been in the Police for 4 years. He was a friend a Hamam Dass (H-34), the deported
seditionist. He returned to India by the S.S. "Namsang" and thereafter was
reported to have been an associate of Piara Singh (P-25), and to have
visited villages in the Amritsar district with the object of stirring up
trouble. He was also said to have a knowledge of bomb-making. He was
interned and subsequently send for trial in the Lahore Conspiracy Case of
1914-15, but was acquitted. Later on, he was sent up in the Lahore
Supplementary Case and sentenced to transportation for life. There was a
considerable discussion about this accused, it being contended that he
could not be tried for acts for which he had already been prosecuted once,
but a majority of the Court, however, decided that he was liable on a fresh
count. While undergoing life sentence in the Yervada Central Jail, Gujar
Singh was awarded two additional sentences totaling 4 years and 3
months, R. I. under Section 224, I. P. C. He was, however, released
conditionally by the Punjab Government on 30th April 1930, subject to
his being restricted to his village under Police surveillance for 3 years. It
was reported in October 1930, that Gujar Singh had attended political
meetings held at Bhakna Kalan and had assisted in collecting provisions
etc., but had never appeared on the stage. Now-a-days he has a
confectioner’s shop in front of the Khalsa College, Amritsar. Is a bad
character and is under Police surveillance. Associates with Sohan Singh
of Bhakna Kalan (S-55) and Santa Singh of Gandiwind (S-18).

beard; a scar on left elbow about 1" in diameter.
