Gopal Singh, alias Pal Singh, alias Bakshi Singh, son of Narain Singh, of Village Sohian, District Ludhiana. He went to England about 1910 and thence to America. Worked on the staff of the "Gurmukhi-Ghadr" at San Francisco. Delivered a most violent speech at a Ghadr meeting at Holt, Stockton, on the 29th of January 1915. Took part in another seditious meeting at Fresno, California in January 1915, and read extracts from a book by Har Dayal. Was said to have been in Seattle until the end of 1914, and to have been sent by the American revolutionaries to report on the progress of the Siam Ghadr Party in the Spring of 1915. Was said to have gone to Siam Ghadr Party in the Spring of 1915. Was said to have gone to Siam with the late Santokh Singh of Dodher, Amritsar district. He was in Shanghai in May 1916, where he was known as Bakshi. Was twice arrested and released in China. Was in Japan in December 1916 where he mixed with the notorious revolutionary Rash Behari Bose (R-32) and subsequently arrived in America on 1st February 1917. On arrival he joined Bhagwan Singh’s party. Was arrested in the U. S. A. for infringing neutrality and sentenced to a term of one year and one day. Wrote a seditious letter from California in 1918 to one Indar Singh, son of Jiwan Singh, Lambardar of Atiana, district Ludhiana. Was released from jail on 23rd February 1919, and again arrested for deportation, but the deportation order seems to have been cancelled subsequently. He exchanged anti-British talk with De Valera on the occasion of the latter's visit to San Francisco and presented to him, on behalf of the Ghadr Party, a diamond inlaid sword and silk flag of the Irish Republic. In January 1922 he was elected to the Committee of the Ghadr Party and in the same month acted as Secretary at a meeting of the Ghadr Party held at Fresno. In May 1922 he was reported to be endeavoring to organize a separate section of the Ghadr Party composed mainly of the students of Berkeley. He was elected President of the Ghadr Party in 1923, during which year he actively collected funds for the party. He was reported in July 1923 to have gone to Mexico with Bikram Singh of Jandiala. Returned to India in 1923, and has not since come to notice politically or otherwise. Is, however, said to be a man of political views. He is at his village where he owns landed property.
