Diwan Singh, son of Biru, Jat of Barian Kalan, P. S. Mahilpur, District
Hoshiarpur. He went abroad in 1907 and lived at Vancouver until 1915,
when he went to San Francisco. He was reported by the Canadian
authorities to be one of the disloyal Indians in Vancouver, who harassed
those members of the community who helped the authorities, and who
might cause the persecution of the relations in India of the Canadian
loyalists. He returned to India about the end ofJanuary 1922 by the s. s.
"Takada", after an absence of 14 years, and was reported to be a political
suspect by the Hong Kong Police. He returned to America in 1923. He
returned to his village about the beginning of 1930 and has not come to
notice since then.
Description : Fair complexion; age about 55 years; tall and thin; is
slightly lame in the right leg; short white clipped beard which he
sometimes blackens; "kes" on head; smokes "huqqa".
