Dasaundha Singh

Dasaundha Singh, son of Sawan Singh, Village Ajitwal, P. S. Mehna, District Ferozepore. Between 1927-29 he was reported to be employed and to have lived at Mitsui Bussan Kaisha, 8, Foochow Road, Shanghai. He attended several seditious meetings held in Shanghai including the meeting ofthe 19th of April 1927, at the house of Dasaunda Singh Mann (D-16) in Chapei. He was a close associate of Dasaunda Singh Mann and Gajjan Singh (G-3), the ex-school master, and was implicated in the murder of Inspector Budha Singh, but was acquitted for want of sufficient evidence. He was present at the meeting on the 14th August 1927 when Ishar Singh of Sundun (1-28) read a letter from Pritam Singh of Dhand Kasel (P-29), and at which resolutions were passed for the reception of the "Young Revolutionaries" from Hankow, resumption of the publication ofthe "Hind Jagawa", and preparation ofthe members of the Sikh community for revolution. He was appointed Secretary of the Paoshing Road Gurdwara Committee in 1929 and made a number of objectionable speeches at Gurdwara meetings. At about the same time he was in communication with Gajjan Singh, the deportee, and was suspected of being in communication with the Editor of the "Sher-i- Punjab". On 2nd August 1929 his passport was cancelled at Shanghai on the ground that it had been tampered with. He was enrolled as a member of the General Committee of the India Youth League, China, in August 1930. Was then employed as a private watchman at No. 45 Szeechman Road. Returned to his village in 1931. Addressed a political meeting held at Ajitwal on the day of the execution of Bhagat Singh (murderer of a Police officer in India) condemning the Government. Also attended the Kirti Kisan meeting held in Moga in 1931. Cultivates land in his village. Associates with Naurang Singh Ghalli (N-37) and Karam Singh, son of Madho Ram ofAjitwal, an active member ofthe Kirti Kisan Party now in jail, and others holding strong Akali views. Owns landed property.

Description : Age about 29 years; height 5'-6"; fair complexion: brown eyes; oval face; a small scar above the right eyebrow; a small mole on left side of nose; ear lobes bored; beard and kes jet black; knows Gurmukhi.
