Dalip Singh, alias D. S. Mastana, son of Mihan Singh, Jat, Village
Birpind, P. S. Nakodar, District Jullundur. He first went to America in
1902 and returned in 1914. He did not come to notice adversely during
his stay at Birpind. Again left for America in 1918. He acted as Assistant
Secretary at a Ghadr Party meeting in Fresno on 15th Februaiy 1921.
Towards the middle of 1921 he accompanied Bishan Singh Hindi (B-72)
on a tour to collect subscriptions for the Amritsar Massacre Memorial.
Early in 1922 he was reported to be at Loomis and to be a close adherent
of the Ghadr Party. He has three sons living at Birpind who identified
themselves with the activities of the Shahidi Jathas passing through their
district en route to Jaito in 1924. In 1923 he was Vice-President of the
Doaba Sudharak Committee. Which remitted money to India to assist the
Babbar Akalis. In 1924 he was elected an office-bearer of the Sikh '
American Educational Society, Stockton, California. In 1926 and 1927 he
was in correspondence with Karam Singh of Chima (K-20), and Bhag
Singh of Uppal Bupa (B-47) from Box 398 Davis. California, evincing
great interest in the Kirti movement and sending money for the successful
working of the same. In October 1928 he wrote to the Manager of the
'Kirti', Amritsar, saying that he had enlisted 250 persons residing in
California as subscribers to the Kirti. In 1929 he was reported to be a
regular quarterly subscriber to the Ghadr Party on behalf of the Kirti
fund. Is a prominent Ghadrite. Owns landed property at his village. His
address in California is P. O. Box 1176, Fresno.
