Charan Singh, son of Tehl Singh, of Padhana, Police Station Barki,
District Lahore. Went to Shanghai in 1907, whence he proceeded to
America. Wrote a letter form P.B. 95, Brawley, to Amar Singh, Lance
Naik of the 89th Native Infantry, asking him to leave the Army and
stating that anything would be preferable to being a soldier, and offering
him monetary help. Was reported to have been an active member of the
Ghadr Party since 1921. Was again reported in 1922 and 1928 to have
been an active member of the party. Interested in the cotton raising
business since 1926. Was reported to be living in Fresno in 1929. Santa
Singh of Gandiwind (S-18) left $400 as a trust with Charan Singh which
the latter remitted from R.H. Box 107, Merced, California to Baba
Wasakha Singh (W-6) after Santa Singh's departure from America,
through a draft dated 28th May 1928 to be drawn on the Impreial Bank of
India with instructions that the money in question was to be made over to
the family of Santa Singh who was then in jail. Was reported in 1929 to
be a regular quarterly subscriber to the party on behalf of the Kirti fund.
Said to be a Treasurer of the Ghadr Party in 1930 and 1931. Is still in
America where he is said to be working as a labourer. Present address not
known. Owns landed property at his village.
