Bishan Singh, alias Bishan Singh Burj, alias Chanan Singh, son of Jiwan Singh, Village Burjraike, P. S. Sirhali, District Amritsar. Had been to America and Hong Kong prior to his return to India in 1913, whence he again proceeded to Shanghai where he was appointed Gaol warder by the Shanghai Municipal Police on the 8th September 1915. He resigned this post on the 19th of March 1916 and went to America. He was one of the seven Sikhs who left America in the spring of 1925 with Mehendra Pratap on an anti-British mission to Tibet. After the failure of the mission, he went to Japan in the beginning of September 1926, with Charan Singh of Duleta (C-15), and Shamsher Singh of Sursingh (S-38). From Japan he corresponded with Munsha Singh (M-55), Secretary of the Ghadr Party in San Francisco, and Pritam Singh of Dhand Kasel (P-29), who was then in Moscow, to which place he himself went in September 1926. He arrived in Hankow from Russia via Conton about the 26th of May 1927 with Pritam Singh of Dhand Kasel and Sawan Singh, son of Mahla Singh of village Phadana (S-28). He subsequently took a lending part in the hostile activities of the Hindustan Ghadr Dhandora Party in Hankow. He left Hankow towards the end of October 1927 for Fen Yu-Hsiang's Headquarters at Changehow. In April 1928 he was reported to be staying in the Japanese Concession, Hankow. About the end of 1928 he was at Pecking but was reported to have left that place en route to Panama in December. He was said to have received a sum of $500 from the Ghadr Party in America. In March 1920 he was in correspondence from Kobe (P. O. Box No. 312) with disaffected Sikhs in Shanghai. In September 1929 his address was reported to be P. O. Box No. 481 Ancon, Canai Zone, Panama, to which place he had gone with Sadhu Singh, son of Nihal Singh of village Chattiwind, district Amritsar. In 1930 he was believed to be intending to return to India in order to see his daughter married. Is reported to be living at Patyana at present. Owns landed property.
