Bakhtawar Singh

Bakhtawar Singh, son of Rakha Singh, Village Tandari Kalan, P. S. Sadr, District Ludhiana. Was once convicted and sentenced for one year in connection with setting fire to a tram-car in South Calcutta, at the time of the Hartal announced by the Congress in 1931. He is a member of the Samya Raj Party, of the Punjab Naujawan Bharat Sabha of Bengal, and the Kirti Dal of Bengal. During the years 1931 and 1932 he came to notice prominently for delivering objectionable speeches and reading inciting songs at religious diwans and other political meetings. A close associate of the extemees Maha Singh of V. Kamalpur, Dist. Ludhiana (since dead) and Prem Singh "Prem" (P-28) and also of Baba Gurdit Singh (G-46). Lives at 17, Ashutosh Mukherjee Road, Bhowanipur, Calcutta.
